Tamerlane Apartments became an established entity in 2004 after the Redevelopment Agency in the City of Garden Grove approached Vista Communities, Inc. about the possibility of rehabilitating a problem street in the City. Tamerlane Drive suffered from crime and neglect. The trouble spot on the street centered around the end of a cul-de-sac where 16 independently-owned buildings existed. The buildings on the street were unsafe, ugly, and in disrepair. Vista Communities has been working to acquire, rehabilitate, and unify each of these buildings through the use of federal HOME funds in conjunction with institutional financing.
To date, Vista Communities has united more than half of the multi-family housing on the street and continues to work to provide safety and structure to the street and, subsequently, to the surrounding area through rehabilitation and a proactive property management style.
